It has become one of the biggest, most stylish and glamorous fashion events outside of London, and tickets are now on sale. The anticipated event will take over the city with one fashion-filled week, putting Bath firmly on the fashion map. Now in its sixth year, Bath in Fashion 2015 showcases an eclectic mix of celebrated designers, influential editors, opinionated fashion writers and style pundits alongside behind-the-scenes creatives who will discuss and debate, celebrate and champion the ever-changing, all-encompassing world of fashion.
This year will see three world-class fashion designers deliver talks on their work and inspiration: Roksanda Ilincic, Holly Fulton and Anna Sui. The Fashion Your Future careers forum is a must for anyone who wants to work in fashion, whether you are studying, fancy a career change or just love fashion.
Great news for us students too: tickets can be purchased at a reduced price of £5 (with an NUS card) for some of the events, including Anna Sui, Roksanda Ilincic, Holly Fulton and Ed Marler of Fashion East. Tim Blanks of Style.com and Susannah Frankel of Grazia magazine will discuss the incredible work and life of designer Alexander McQueen, and The Royal School of Needlework will be hosting a pop-up workshop in Anthropologie for aspiring embroiderers.
Bath in Fashion 2015, in partnership with one of Europe’s oldest department stores, Jolly’s, offers a host of unmissable talks, catwalk shows, hands-on knitting and jewellery workshops, fashion films, a vintage fashion fair, engaging exhibitions and a community crochet project in aid of Kids Company.
A highlight of the event is the Show Studio’s Lou Stoppard interview with Iain R Webb about his new book Invitation Strictly Personal. From Chanel to Comme des Garçons and Moschino to McQueen, this book – expertly curated by Webb – offers a unique insight into the creative mind of each designer as well as a rare opportunity to share in the fashion show experience. Webb is an award-winning writer and visiting professor of fashion at the Royal College of Art in London. During his career he has been fashion editor/director of BLITZ, Harpers & Queen, Elle and The Times. The event takes place on 25 March, 7.45pm at The Assembly Room.
