This Week in Bath: Your Gig Guide To The City

May 6, 2018

Commissioning editor Darius Morgan has collated this guide to upcoming gigs in Bath. He’s found the best places to get your dance on this week, should you need a break from the monotony of working away at those last deadlines, or, for the lucky ones, a place to go celebrate another academic year over.

In all honesty, the nightlife in Bath is nothing like our louder cousin Bristol; this is not a community where a drum and bass rave is on every day of the week. However, there are still plenty of places to enjoy music in this wonderful city! Check out this week’s offerings…

Sunday, 6 May

Head down to The Bell Inn on Walcot Street at lunchtime, sit outside in the sun with the Bell’s Pizza Sunday and listen to Dana Immanuel & The Stolen Band, an interesting and eclectic mix of country and folk music.

On Sunday evening, The Nest has Brooklyn Zoo doing a set. Expect artists such as 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled to name a few. Remember, it’s a bank holiday weekend – so don’t be afraid to let your hair down!

Monday, 7 May

Best bet this Monday is at Moles on George Street for Kojo Promotions. It should be a good night, including performances from bands such as Courts, who promise a diverse spectrum of genres including funk, hip-hop, disco and grime, as well Bath Spa-born, psychedelic prog rock band Delight a Thief, who headlined milk’s promo event in March.

Wednesday, 9 May

Music at The Bell Inn is a sure hit

The Bell Inn always offers some great live music

Sundays through Wednesdays The Bell Inn delivers some great live music, but the pick of this week is surely when The Tremor Tones come to town! A great band for rocksteady, reggae infused soul – I’ll see you there.

Thursday, 10 May

For a night of acoustic music head to Pig and Fiddle on Saracen’s Street (next to Taka Taka) where three top acts will be performing live: The Prosaics, Odmansbox and Lou Chop. Look ‘em up.

Or, pop into The Canon on Barton Street who usually do an Open Mic night on Thursday which is always good fun.

Friday, 11 May

The Nest takes a break from DnB and Grime to provide a night of House and Techno from DJ’s Andy Fisher and Ben Hudson. And at Po Na Na there’s an Arctic Monkeys special night – to mark of the release of their new album – where they’ll be playing Monkeys’ new and old stuff throughout.
