A Magic Carpet Christmas

December 17, 2016

Christmas isn’t really Christmas without a good ole’ pantomime – oh no it isn’t, oh yes it is! There’s nothing quite like getting the family together and cheering on a hero as they avoid the clutches of the panto’s villain. This year Aladdin is the panto of choice at Theatre Royal Bath and full of Christmas spirit, it’s not one to disappoint.

Aladdin is arguably the most magical pantomime and Bath’s star-studded cast only adds to the magic. Granted, they aren’t A-listers, but with the cast coming from the world of TV Soaps, it’s bound to have a few people in the audience excited. Bill Ward, from Coronation Street and Emmerdale, is no stranger to playing Mr. Bad Guy, in fact he played Abanazar in the 2006 pantomime.

Mark Rhodes, award-winning children’s TV presenter, takes to the stage as Aladdin and with help from Jasmine Naylor as Princess Jasmine, Jon Monie as Wishee Washee, and Nick Wilton as Widow Twankey, they fight through the horrible and skillful spells Abanazar throws at them.

The show is packed full with singing, dancing, magical costumes and hilarious slap-stick comedy, so there’s something for every member of the family. With three wishes, a magic carpet and plenty of help from a willing audience, Abanazar doesn’t stand a chance! So what are you waiting for?

Tickets to the magic carpet ride would make an excellent Christmas present for all the family and the show runs from December 8 until early January so there’s plenty of time to get down and see it. You’d be a fool not to let them take you to ‘a whole new world.’
